Safety Policy
The risks we take most seriously, and the tools you have.
Last updated: August 6, 2026
Your safety on NextLine matters more than any single piece of content. This page covers the specific risks we take most seriously and the tools you have to protect yourself.
1. Fake News & Misinformation
NextLine is a creative writing platform, and fiction, satire, and "what if" scenarios are exactly what it's for. What's not allowed is presenting fabricated claims as real news or fact with intent to deceive, especially around elections, public health, or emergencies. When in doubt about whether something reads as fiction, label it — a "Story" or "Script" tag goes a long way.
2. Violence & Threats
We don't allow credible threats of violence against a person or group, or content that glorifies real-world violence, terrorism, or extremism. Violence as a plot element in fiction (a thriller, a war story) is fine; violence directed at a real, identifiable person is not.
3. Illegal Activities
Don't use NextLine to promote, instruct, or coordinate illegal activity, including the sale or promotion of illegal drugs, weapons, or other contraband.
4. Self-Harm & Sensitive Content
If a post reads like fiction exploring difficult themes (grief, mental illness, recovery), that's welcome — many people write through hard things. If a post reads like someone may be genuinely at risk of harming themselves, we handle it differently from content that promotes harm to others: our priority is connecting that person with help, not punishing them. If you're worried about someone's post, please report it and, if you're in the same region, consider reaching out to a local crisis line as well. Content that actively encourages or instructs others to self-harm is not allowed and is treated as a serious safety violation.
5. Child Safety
Zero tolerance. Any content that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits a minor is removed immediately, the account is permanently banned, and we report it to the relevant authorities as required by law.
6. Personal Information & Doxxing
Don't post someone else's private information — home address, phone number, workplace, government ID, financial details — without their consent, even if you believe it's true or relevant. This applies in posts, comments, and messages alike.
7. Phishing & Fraud
Don't use NextLine to impersonate a real service or person in order to collect passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information, and don't post links to phishing pages or fraudulent schemes (fake giveaways, investment scams, etc.).
8. Blocking
If someone's making your experience worse — even if nothing they've done technically breaks our rules — you can block them from their profile. Blocking is mutual and immediate:
- They can no longer follow you, see your posts or profile, or message you.
- You no longer see their posts, profile, or messages either.
- Any existing follow between you (in either direction) is removed.
- You can unblock at any time from their profile.
Blocking is a personal safety tool, separate from reporting — you don't need a policy violation to block someone, and blocking someone doesn't automatically notify our moderation team. If what they did also breaks our Community Guidelines, please report it too.
9. If You're in Immediate Danger
NextLine isn't an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services first.
