Content Moderation Policy
How reports move from submission to a decision, and how to appeal one.
Last updated: August 6, 2026
This page explains how content moderation actually works on NextLine — from the moment something's posted to the moment (if needed) we act on it.
1. Community Reporting
Moderation on NextLine starts with you. Every post, comment, and profile has a Report button. When you report something, you pick a reason (spam, plagiarism, harassment, hate speech, NSFW content, copyright, or other) and can add details. Your report goes into a review queue for our moderation team — it's never visible to the person you reported.
2. Automated Signals
Alongside reports, we use lightweight automated checks — like rate limits on posting and login attempts, and flags on accounts with unusually high report counts — to catch abuse patterns early and prioritize what human moderators look at first. We don't rely on fully automated content removal for anything but the clearest cases (like confirmed malware links); everything else gets a human look before action is taken.
3. Manual Review
A human moderator or admin reviews each report against our Community Guidelines and Safety Policy. Reports move through a simple pipeline: Pending (not yet reviewed) → Reviewing (a moderator is looking at it) → Resolved (action taken) or Dismissed (no violation found).
4. Escalation
Reports involving an immediate safety risk — credible threats of violence, child safety, or someone expressing intent to self-harm — are prioritized ahead of the general queue. Where the law requires it, we cooperate with law enforcement and report child safety violations to the relevant authorities.
5. Warning System
For a first, lower-severity violation, we typically issue a warning and may remove the specific piece of content, rather than jumping straight to a suspension. Warnings are tracked on the account, and repeated violations escalate faster than a first-time one.
6. Temporary Suspension
For confirmed violations that don't rise to a permanent ban, we may temporarily suspend an account — restricting login or specific features for a set period. See our Account Enforcement Policy for the tiers we generally use and what triggers each one.
7. Permanent Suspension
Severe violations (illegal content, credible threats, child safety violations, serious repeat infringement) or a pattern of repeated lower-level violations can result in a permanent ban. See Account Enforcement Policy.
8. Appeals
If your content was removed or your account was actioned and you think it was a mistake, contact us at [support@nextlines.in] with your username and, if you have it, a link to the content or a copy of the notice we sent you. A different moderator or admin will review the decision. We aim to respond to appeals within a reasonable time and will let you know the outcome either way.
